Our Story

why Garden city church?

Chicago’s motto, “City in a Garden,” reflects a vision of growth, beauty, and community. That vision echoes God’s greater story—the biblical story. Humanity began in a garden (Genesis 1) and is headed toward a garden city where God will dwell with His people in peace (Revelation 21–22). Though sin has broken our world, Jesus brings healing, renewal, and hope.

We believe the good news of Jesus changes everything. In a diverse and divided city, we long to see lives and neighborhoods transformed by His love. Jesus meets us in our brokenness, unites us across differences, and calls us to live for the good of others. Loving our neighbors makes the character of God and his people visible to a weary, watching world.

We want to be a local church that reflects the beauty and diversity of God’s kingdom—joining His work of restoration in Chicago, for the glory of God and the flourishing of our neighbors.
